Mini-grants for Libraries & Community-based Organizations

The EMERGE program invited libraries and community-based organizations across Florida to apply for a $300 mini-grant to host a citizen science event focused on environmental and public health issues.

Libraries and community-based organizations received, in 2025:

  • Ongoing support from program staff and university partners

These organizations will:

  • Host at least one in-person event by December 31, 2025
  • Use GLOBE Observer’s Mosquito Habitat Mapper and/or Land Cover tools
  • Encourage participants to collect and explore data using EMERGE resources
  • Promote the event locally through flyers, social media, or newsletters
  • Complete a brief post-event survey
  • Share a few photos, quotes, or reflections to be featured in our statewide gallery
